Cortana should soon benefit from a new and very practical feature. Indeed, some users of the Insider program have noticed a new feature in the new Build of Windows 10: the ability to search for a file by asking the virtual assistant directly.
Cortana is more and more put aside by Microsoft. Paradoxically, the virtual assistant is going to benefit from a very practical new feature that should make life easier for users and which has appeared for members of the Windows Insider program: it is now possible to search for a file on your PC using only your voice.
Users of the Insider program have access to a new Windows 10 Build. As a reminder, this program allows you to beta test the next features of the operating system in advance before their official release (or not if they are not convincing).
A file can sometimes get lost in the bowels of your computer and in this case, using the search engine is a solution. It is now possible to do it by voice. Cortana indeed uses the AI to find the file in question. Microsoft specifies that the assistant recognizes several ways to do so.
" Hey Cortana, find me a file "
For example, it is possible to search a file by date by saying "Hey Cortana, find my recent PDFs", or even by its author via a "Cortana, find the budget Excel file sent by Anthony". The Redmond firm also specifies that users of a professional account can also use this method to find a file on One Drive. Convenient. For the moment, the thing is only available in English.
It remains to be seen whether or not this feature will be used by the general public. Cortana is indeed more and more ignored and Microsoft now proposes to completely do without it. Indeed, it is possible to remove the wizard button in the taskbar of Windows 10 and during a first start of the operating system, it is even proposed not to use it at all. On smartphone,
In any case, if this new feature manages to convince the Insiders, we can expect to see it coming sooner or later in a future update. What about you, could this new feature interest you? Let us know in the comments!
